Contempory art made with museums blurs the boundaries between historian, archaeologist and artist by approaching artefacts with a modern view. This releases a new sense of life to something that people may not remember or be interested in prior to the new collaboration.

By using something historical can engage an different audience or can widen the depth of a work, I believe does not necessarily make the work about something old. For my practise it may be beneficial to study collections that will create background knowledge to then inform the structure of a sculpture or to engage me in a different manor of display that would more closely link to the historical influences and could be the conversation that I as an artist am having in response to the historical space of a museum.

I feel collaborations between artist and museums are brilliant opportunities for both parties to engage with audiences that otherwise may never encounter the space or works that the collaboration facilitates.

Puyana is a photographer I discovered on instagram, his photographic work is interesting to me through the way he use light. He captures the overall detail and beauty of a piece whilst still highlighting the light and dark contrasts. he work is said to be described as 'luminous and dramatic', this is definitely something I am able to see as audience to his pieces. in my opinion, Puyana's overall practice creates conversation between the colours of nature and in many comment in darker contrast to human condition of spaces.

I feel the sunset photographs he captures show the best use of variating lighting that I would like to transfer ideas of into the installation of my works. Using the lighting as a tool for the appearance of the pieces that create a different view for the audience than a more 'traditional' gallery display.

I am in a great position with regards learning new art skills. I was able to take part in a Canvas making workshop, held by one of the amazing technicians we have at in the art department at the University.

Although my practice is not currently needing canvas' as it is more sculpture based, the process of how to make one and them having that knowledge for future I believe invaluable. I am also trying to take as many opportunities as I can to widen my skills base from just my specific practice.

For my work to be able to grow I need allow other ideas in, by learning how to create my own canvas' I now know how beneficial it can be, as you can choose both frame material as well as the canvas as well as creating bespoke sized canvas' for specific needs.

The workshop also helped me with becoming more comfortable in the more construction sideline of art and use of tools to accomplish this.

Lest I forget that before this I would not have appreciated the quality of a canvas as I do now, nor would I have realized over time the handmade canvas' end up being cheaper and who doesn't love value for money.
