Mark Titchner made a series of five works in response to a collaboration of the collections at Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum and also five community groups in Worcester. He not only wanted to work with the museum personally but also wanted to include responses to the collection from people from Worcester, this then taking shape as the basis of his works.
He used the Space in the WAG&M to display relevant past works to help to frame and explain the responding community works, which he chose to display by scattering them at different sites throughout Worcester City Centre.
At the Museum, there is a small adjoining room to the Gallery where they have chosen to display the Political Posters and Newpaper stories of Corporate mission statements used by the Community groups to answers the question 'what do we want?' alongside a video of the process Titchner went through to create the pieces.
The typeface he has used in the modern pieces mirrors that of the mission statements as a direct reference to the history behind the works. The gallery also makes reference to the political protest that surrounds the theme of the exhibition, by displaying the information about Titchner and his works on wooded placards typically used in protests.
