Waiting for the UFOs (a space set between a landscape and a bunch of flowers)
This exhibition entails 135 individual sun targets which orbit the rectangular fixed column that centres the space. Apfelbaum has taken advantage of the space and playing highlight to its architectural features. All around the focal column is a painted floor to ceiling in a vibrant colour palette, that plays homage to the LGBT flag. The flag she has used is not known to many as it now only entails 6 colours. this new flag was adopted to able to continue the spread of knowledge around the LGBT community as pink die was rather expensive and the LGBT community is meant for all, but times have changed again as shown by the human nature of everyone encountered by Apfelbaum's language use.
An interesting engagement with the space is the positioning of the two tone band that spans the entire space. Bringing to the space the sense of horizon and movement past the colour to something much further away. Within the band, placed where the two colours meet sitting equal space apart, are the individualised tiles. Each made with the same colour palette and containing a yellow centre, but all having its own appearance.
